Advanced Freediver

By taking an advanced SSI freediving certification, you will further your freediving adventure by improving your skills and learning new ones. Explore your limits, going beyond them to find your true ability in the deep blue sea. SSI offers freediving disciplines to match your passion, whether diving with fins or no fins. Just choose your favorites from our various individual programs and start today! When you complete a certain number of SSI freediving specialty programs and logged dive sessions, you can automatically earn the SSI Specialty Freediver, SSI Progressive Freediver, and SSI Master Freediver ratings. These SSI freediving ratings demonstrate your competency in the water and build a solid foundation for future adventures or an SSI Professional career. 

Student Prerequisites:

• Minimum age: 15 years old
• Have logged at least six (6) in-water freediving sessions

Depth Limitations:

• The minimum open water depth limit of 20 meters
• The maximum open water depth limit is 30 meters

Performance requirements:

• Able to swim a distance of 100 meters without any swim or buoyancy aids
• Buddy system procedure (Static)
• Static session in the water with  a minimum time of 2:30min
• Loss of Motor Control (LMC) surface rescue
• Buddy system procedure (Dynamic)
• Dynamic apnea with bi-fins for 50 meters
• Blackout Rescue of a victim with dynamic weights on (2-4m)

• Equalization (Frenzel technique)
• Demonstrate good Neutral buoyancy between 10-12m
• Demonstrate a proper Free-falling position
• Dive to a depth of atleast 20 meters
• Surface tow for 50m
• Blackout rescue from 15 meters
• Arm-stroke only from 15 meters
• Mask removal from 15 meters
