Performance Freediver

Get closer to making your ultimate freediving goals a reality with the SSI Performance Freediver certification program. This is the highest level of non-professional freediving course SSI offers and will help you discover your true freediving potential. Using an in-depth combination of online learning and in-person freediving sessions, you will maximize your skills and learn the techniques used in the competitive freediving world. 

Student Prerequisites:

• Minimum age: 18 years old
• Have logged at least thirty (30) in-water freediving sessions

• Depth Limitations:
• The minimum open water depth limit of 30 meters
• The maximum open water depth limit is 40 meters

• Performance requirements:
• Able to swim a distance of 400 meters without any swim or buoyancy aids
• Static coaching session
• Static session in the water with a minimum time of 3:30min
• Buddy system procedures
• Dynamic apnea with bi-fins for 75 meters
• Dynamic Blackout Rescue-Response-Revive

• Warm-up hangs of atleast 1:30min
• Perform a safe FRC dive
• Demonstrate a proper CTW dive with FRC of atleast 30m
• Blackout rescue from 20 meters with a surface tow of 25m
• Arm-stroke only from 20 meters
• Mask removal from 20 meters
